Pure and simple, the most underrated Dew in the history of the Grateful Dead.

Dudes, I'm a Deadhead who was old enough to see only 90s shows but I'm pleased to say that I was in attendance for this one. My buddies and I trekked
...
down from upstate NY to see this memorable performance. As I told my brother recently, I never understood the Dew until I saw my fellow heads headbanging at the apex of this jam at Nassau. Boy, oh boy. I've been browsing some Dews from different eras recently, and I don't think it's hyperbole to say that this one is worth listening to. It's not (sorry fellow posters) a "top ten" or "best ever", but it is really good. Jerry found the strength to make this Dew worth remembering. I never really knew the Dew before this night but can tell you that I had an "oh, now I get it moment" at Nassau Coliseum on 3/27/94 and I've been a fan of the Dew ever since. Wake up to find out that you are the eyes of the world, y'all.

the first set is about what you would expect from an above average 94 show.....lots of energy from the crowd and eveyone plays the songs right....but thats
...
about it.....everything is moving along as expected until playin' then its like they all realized "we're the dead damnit" and started playin like they know how.......im not a big fan of the later years...hell i dont even like the 80s but when the other one falls into AMDew and the crowd goes nuts it gives me goose bumps everytime.....and jerrys vocals are as storng as i have ever heard.....just screaming "THOUGHT I HEARD....A YOUNG MAN MOAN.....TODAY" yeeehaw....once in awhile you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right...indeed fitting for this show
happy 4/20 yall

This show is an improvement from 3/25. I read an interview with Bruce Hornsby discussing his appearance on 3/25, and he said Jer was in really bad shape
...
and that there was "nothing happening on stage." If you listen to that night, you'll probably agree. Jer kinda woke up for this one, a great Jack Straw>Jack-a-Roe opener, and a solid 1st set. The 2nd set is OK, if unspectacular but we're talking about '94 here, remember. The real highlight is the Dew, maybe one of the all-time greats. Jer comes out of it long enough to nail every lyric, with passion, and the buildup at the end features some great tension between Phil and Jer. You need to hear this Dew. If you're looking for a nice AUD of one of the better shows of '94, this is a good choice.

The Playin>UJB is strong enough to signal that the band was connecting tonight, but the Dew is proof that the Dead could still fire on all cylinders
...
even near the end. The entire band is in synch, the ebb and flow is gorgeous and Jerry's vocals sound strong and full of emotion. A top-10 all time Dew, IMO.
This gorgeous audience recording allows the listener to hear how connected the crowd was to this performance and for that reason is preferable than the soundboard.
